Move over Cameron-Brooks and Lucas Group, there's a new recruiting firm in Central Texas.

HigherOut, based out of Austin, is focused on a new program to help service members transition from the military into new careers in the private sector.

Established in 2004 by veteran Jeff McAdams, HigherOut has coupled more than several hundred employees each year with corporations large and small.

Working with a client base that includes law firms, computer manufacturers, public accounting firms, oil and gas companies, real estate agencies and other organizations, HigherOut has placed people in a multitude of jobs in the areas of clerical, light industry, finance and technology.

"Our program is based on the fact that the military trains people for a number of things. The military builds and validates a person's skills but doesn't do a great job transitioning the individual to the private sector," McAdams said Wednesday.

Although HigherOut is not staffed to help write resumes, McAdams and his team of 11 recruiters will give pointers and provide people with the resources they need to develop a sound resume.

"We're not a resume writing business, but we can get you a job by matching you with a good company that will complement your skill set," said Blake Cannon, a HigherOut Managing Director.
